Avellana is a great example of a dog who was desperately in need of some TLC. As a hunting breed, she was originally owned by a hunter who didn’t provide her with the love and care she deserved. But with the help of some loving people, Avellana was able to turn her life around and find happiness once again.
Avellana’s inability to hunt due to her paralysis led to her abandonment by her owner in Spain. However, she was fortunate enough to receive assistance from a rescue called Galgos del Sol. This organization focuses on rescuing galagos and podencos breeds and is located in Spain.
Galgos del Sol is facing a significant challenge as countless galgos and podencos are being left abandoned each year, as stated by their Facebook team. They strive to provide a high standard of living for their rescued dogs, which involves giving them plenty of attention, medical care, and opportunities to rest outside of their kennels. Balancing these needs can be difficult, but the team believes they are doing a good job. Fortunately, Galgos del Sol was able to assist Avellana, who was abandoned due to an immune illness that caused nervous system inflammation. The rescue provided her with physiotherapy and exercises to aid in her recovery.
After a considerable amount of effort, she finally regained control of her limbs and was able to walk again. Avellana now resides with Anne in a caring home where she can socialize with other dogs and experience the fulfilling life she deserves.
