Shih Tzu Rescued from Abandoned Plastic Bag Receives Love and Care at Richmond Animal Care and Control Organization

In a heart-wrenching incident that has shocked animal lovers, a Shih Tzu was discovered wrapped in a sack behind an old church on the south side of town last week. The dog was in a deplorable condition – most of its hair was missing, and the skin was riddled with an untreated infection that had lasted for years.

Fortunately, the Shih Tzu, named Annabelle by the staff at the Richmond Animal Care and Control Organization (RACC) in Virginia, was rescued and brought to the shelter. Christie Chipps Peters, the RACC Director, expressed her anger and gratitude that the dog was alive and they could provide her with the necessary treatment.

The shelter’s staff immediately started treating Annabelle for a skin infection, conjunctivitis, upper respiratory tract infection, and dental problems. Peters revealed that Annabelle had never received medical attention before, but they would do everything in their power to ensure she received the care she deserved.

Despite her traumatic past, Annabelle’s sweet disposition has won the hearts of everyone at the shelter. According to Peters, Annabelle wags her tail and is always happy and kind, a testament to the resilience of animals that show up in dire situations.

Annabelle, estimated to be around 5 years old, is currently on the mend at the RACC and has a bright future ahead of her. While she recovers, the shelter is accepting adoption applications for her.
Peters added that Annabelle enjoys meeting new people and going out, demonstrating that she is not sad or scared but rather in high spirits and ready for anything.

Annabelle’s rescue story is a reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership and the need to protect animals from abuse and neglect. The RACC’s efforts to care for Annabelle and find her a forever home are commendable and reflect their commitment to animal welfare.
